The exhibition Sacred Art in Godless Times won the Olomouc Region Prize!

From yesterdays ceremony of the Olomouc Region Awards for Contribution to Culture 2022, the Museum of Art also took away one award - the exhibition Sacred Art in Godless Times became the outstanding achievement of the year in the field of visual arts.

The authors of the exhibition, Ivo Binder and Šárka Belšíková, together with their co-author Michal Sklenář (ÚSTR) visited many parishes throughout the country and for the first time ever comprehensively recorded and documented the works of artists who created spiritual art during the communist totalitarianism. The exhibition thus offered its visitors extraordinary works by renowned names such as Mikuláš Medek, Jan Koblasa, Miloslav Troup, Vojmír Vokolek, Ludvík Kolek, Josef Šíma and Otmar Oliva. He was also inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Among the other award winners was Petra Ševců, producer of the Museum of Art, for the radio series Hanácké rok, which presents the roots of folk traditions and contemporary folklore on the waves and website of Czech Radio Olomouc. The award was also given to the Museum of Art Olomoucs close partner, the International Festival Divadelní Flora, and to the writer Kateřina Tučková for her novel Bílá Voda, which is thematically close to the award-winning exhibition.
