St. Pauline moves back to the cathedral

NEWS: 21 09 2023

This June, after 237 years, the reliquary with the relics of the patron saint of Olomouc, St. Pauline, returned to its original place - the Church of Our Lady of the Snows - but it was only a short-term, summer loan and it will return to the Olomouc Cathedral next week.

Take advantage of the last days and come and see how the reliquary looks in its original place. On Sunday, 24 June, Pater Miroslav Herold will celebrate a farewell mass at 19:00, followed by a last guided tour of the reliquary in the presence of Miroslav Herold and the curator of the Museum of Art Helena Zápalková.

Sunday also marks the end of the intervention in the permanent exhibition of the Archdiocesan Museum dedicated to St. Pauline, the patroness of the city.

However, the celebration of the 400th anniversary of St. Paulines patronage of Olomouc will continue. On Sunday, October 8, the 400th anniversary of the election of St. Paulina as the citys patroness, there will be a solemn Mass in St. Wenceslas Cathedral, followed by a contemplative Mass in the Church of Our Lady of the Snows (1:00 p.m.), during which the Missa in honorem Sanctae Paulinae Romanae by contemporary composer Jiří Miroslav Procházka will be performed, and music by the old masters will also be heard.
