Jaro Varga will present his drawings at the end of the month in the Armoury

Last January, as part of the SEFO 2021 Triennial, the windows of the Armoury Library were decorated with drawings by Olomouc artist Jaro Varga. After more than a year, the artist is returning to Olomouc and on Tuesday, 28 March, he will personally guide you through the library and introduce you to his project Return to the New World.

"The project is a continuation of Vargas previous projects, including The Yellow Book at the Chiquita Room, Tàpies Foundation, Arús Library and Picasso Museum in Barcelona and In Someone Elses Skin for the Goethe Institute in Bratislava. After colonial literature and Karl May, however, one of the prominent representatives of contemporary Central European art in Olomouc focuses on the history and activities of the Jesuit Order. Return to the New World reflects the trust we have in books, the value we place on them - they are a source of "irreversible" truth for us. But it is constructed like every other element of the human world - and it is the process of construction that Varga focuses on here. Where else to open this topic than in the large library of Palacký University," says Barbora Kundračíková, the curator of the SEFO 2021 Triennial.
