MUO summer will also offer guided tours

NEWS: 10 07 2023

Apart from swimming, summer also includes excursions and visits to monuments and museums, and at the MUO we are also accommodating visitors and will offer several interesting guided tours over the holidays, the first one this Wednesday.

Back to the 90s with Hermit

The first guided tour of this summer will take place on Wednesday 12 July, when the curator Jakub Frank will take you through the exhibition Flashback: Hermit 1992 - 1999 from 16:30. Together you will go back in time to the 1990s and visit the unique international symposium taking place in the Baroque monastery in Plasy. The second guided tour of this exhibition will take place on Tuesday 29 August.

Cycling to the Olomouc sculptures

On Tuesday, 18 July, we will focus on Olomouc sculptures and their models in the collections of the MUO. First, Michal Soukup, curator of the exhibition Volume of the Soul, will introduce you to selected works in the exhibition, and then you will set off on a bicycle with Jan Jeništa to discover the sculptures in Olomoucs public space.

The Return of St. Pauline

The summer will also not forget the 400th anniversary of St. Paulines presence in Olomouc. As part of the celebrations, the original Baroque reliquaries from Olomoucs St. Wenceslas Cathedral were returned to the Church of Our Lady of the Snows for the summer after 237 years. The altar of St. Pauline is thus back in one piece after almost a quarter of a millennium. On 25 July and 15 August, Father Miroslav Herold and our curator Helena Zápalková will introduce you to it and the history of the reliquary and St. Pauline herself.

XY 2023 with Johanna Tinzl

At the end of July, the MUO will link up with Gallery XY and bring a project by Austrian visual artist Johanna Tinzl reflecting on the life of Helga Pollak-Kinsky to the Museum of Modern Art. On Thursday 27 July, Barbora Kundračíková, Head of our SEFO Department, will introduce you to the project and other exhibitions focusing on contemporary artists associated with Vienna.

Tibet in Olomouc

At the end of the holiday season, we will set out together with Gabriela Elbelová, co-author of the Mandalas in the Wind exhibition, to explore the Buddhist art of Tibet, China and Mongolia. In the Archdiocesan Museum we will introduce you to the unique collection of the National Museum - Náprstek Museum dedicated to Tibetan Buddhism.
