New and Everlasting Covenant | The cult of the Eucharist in visual art

In the liturgical year of the Eucharist and in the context of the National Eucharistic Congress 2015 we will focus on the visual representation of one of the essential parts of the Christian liturgy. The Eucharist (thanksgiving in Greek) is one of the seven sacraments, and recalls the Last Supper of Jesus Christ by taking the bread and wine transformed into the body and blood of Christ. An important topic of the Christian faith will be looked upon through works of art from the Middle Ages till the present. The exhibition, which is organized in cooperation with the Olomouc Archbishopric, will be divided into two areas - the crypt of St. Wenceslas Cathedral in Olomouc and the Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum Ambit.
