The Gothic Cloister will fill Red audiovisual installation

Pavel Mrkuss special audiovisual installation will be a free part of the exhibition between 3rd May and 2nd July. In the wake of the exhibition, you are all secretly currently taking place in the Gallery of the Archdiocesan Museum in Olomouc. It uses the spatial and meaning disposition of the Gothic cloister, which, following the pattern of traditional wall paintings, revives the dynamic picture and sound. Installations called R.E.D. will start the ceremony on Wednesday, May 3, at 5 PM in the cloister of the Bishops Zdík Palace.

The installation was created by Pavel Mrkus specifically for the Gothic Ambit. Thematically oscillates between cultural paradigms of Christian iconography and contemporary, digitally visualized visualizations. Its main motive is the red light field.

Technically, red is one of the three basic colors of contemporary imaging technologies, but the human eye is at the same time the lowest visible part of the color spectrum. "In addition to the apparent ritual symbolism, the red color also appears in often contradictory social situations. Whether it refers to signaling warning lights, the red light of the photocomor, the color of the blood, the chasm, the revolution, the red wine, or the hell or the red lantern, always refers to something extraordinary, requiring special attention, "Pavel Mrkus told his work. Significant multilayers also refer to the name of the work, from a simple red color designation, to an abbreviation of accelerated perception of information, to the formalism of commercial labels, to crypts of ancient or secret meanings.

The installation, which will be available in Ambit until July 2, 2017, was supported by the Faculty of Art and Design of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem.

Visitors can take advantage of the fact that on Wednesday, 3 May, as well as any other first Wednesday of each month, they will open up to 20 hours.
