The documentary film about Ivan Theimer won in Telč

AKTUALITA | June 23, 2015

The documentary film by director Theodore Mojžíš about the world-famous sculptor and Olomouc native Ivan Theimer praised Arts & Film Festival in Telč last week. In the category of films about fine arts won second place. Realisation of medallion supported the Olomouc Museum of Art.

Movie The Path of Light, which was created in co-production Video Theo studio and Czech Television, reminds Theimer´s dramatic fates. Film returns to his native Olomouc, to studies at the School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště, the first public implementations of the atmosphere or 60s. Especially reminds fates after 1968, when Theimer emigrated to France. "After a difficult beginning, he worked his way through a group exhibition in 1982 to separate exposition on the famous Venice Biennale. Followed by a series of public procurement, for example in Paris obelisks for the presidential Elysee Palace, relief for the facade of the National Archives or the Monument to the Declaration of Human and Civil Rights in Paris and others public realisations in all Europe,"explained the art historian Gina Renotière.

The film documents all these Theimer´s art works and a number of other. "From August 2013 to September 2014 we filmed more than thirty locations in France, Italy, Germany and Czech Republic," said the director, screenwriter and producer Theodore Mojžíš that making the film was preceded by a six-month preparation and after work "on the place" the filmmakers for another six months moved into the editing room.

To implement the document contributed Olomouc Museum of Art, which in occasion of Theimer´s seventieth birthday organized a retrospective exhibition. From September last year to mid-June, the Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum exhibited watercolors, stage design, diary entries and mainly sculptures, which were installed between the works of the old masters in the permanent exhibition.

Second place for a documentary about Ivan Theimer, it is not the only award that Theodor Mojžíš from the 11th edition of the festival Arts & film took. In the category of films about fine arts he won the Jury Prize, for the portrait of painter, graphic artist and illustrator Emanuel Ranný. His dual success is even more valuable because of the favor of the judges this year sought 170 films from 29 countries.
