The Art Museum has won a prestigious prize in the Gloria musaealis

The 15th edition of the National Competition of Museums Gloria musaealis brought pleasure also to the Olomouc Museum of Art. Publishing By charcoal, paintbrush, scalpel...Collection of drawing of the Olomouc Museum of Art has ranked third in the Museum Publications category, in the competition of thirty-three projects. A prestigious award was held on 17 May in the Bethlehem Chapel in Prague by the director of the museum, Michal Soukup.

"This is the fourth publication that maps our collections, and I am pleased that we are able to fulfill our vision of making it available to the public," said Soukup.

The Gloria musaealis competition is jointly announced by the Ministry of Culture, the Association of Museums and Galleries of the Czech Republic and the Czech ICOM Committee. Only in this year were registered one hundred and fifty museums and galleries from the Czech Republic with one hundred and eight projects, in three main categories: Museum Exhibition of the Year, Museum Publication of the Year and Museum of the Year.

The purpose of the National Museum Competition, Gloria musaealis, is to draw attention to top performances of museums and museum workers - to create exhibitions and new exhibitions, to present museum collections in professional publications, or to save and access objects and sites of our cultural heritage.

Awarded publication By charcoal, paintbrush, scalpel...Collection of drawing of the Olomouc Museum of Art maps the collection of drawings of the Olomouc Art Museum for the first time, including a unique collection of art brut, created by an exhibition of the same name. Its scope of expertise, as well as the rich picture part, represent the importance of the collection and the variety of directions represented by it, from the old masters to the art of the 21st Century. The Czech-English version makes the collection available to foreign audiences as well.

The ranking of the first three places in the Museum Publication of the Year category:

1. Design in the Czech Lands 1900 - 2000: Institutions of Modern Design (Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague)

2. Northwest Bohemia under the Luxembourg Government (North Bohemian Gallery of Fine Arts in Litoměřice)
