Kroměříž Chateau and Garden will be reconstructed for a quarter of a billion

The reconstruction of the castle roof, the restoration of the water system in the Garden or the opening of the Mill Gate, these are some parts of the project that initiates Olomouc archbishopric together with the National Monument Institute and the Olomouc Art Museum in the Archbishop Chateau and Gardens in Kroměříž. The reconstruction will take place until 2022 and will amount to 246.3 million crowns, most of which will be provided by the Integrated Regional Operational Program (IROP) subsidy.

The Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic, which administers the IROP, approved a grant of 202.2 million crowns. From the state budget, the project entitled "Legacy of power, glory and generosity" will support 23.8 million and the rest of the planned costs, 20.3 million crowns, will be provided by the owner of the castle and gardens, the Archbishopric of Olomouc.

"I see our ancestors reference as a challenge. If Bishop Karel of Liechtenstein, with extraordinary courage, tried to build a noble landscape in the land burnt by the Thirty Years War, we must find such courage and, despite all that is not good in todays world, to create something beautiful with the belief that it will bring fruit, "said Olomouc Archbishop Jan Graubner added: "I am glad that with the help of public funds and in cooperation with the National Monument Institute and the Olomouc Museum of Art, we can continue with this project in the preservation of such important work."
