They go, Bergel, theyll do me a fountain! | Alfred Bergel | Drawings from Terezin

Olomouc native Alfred Bergel (1902-1944) studied at the Academy in Vienna between the wars, lived and taught drawing. In 1942 the entire family was deported to the Terezin concentration camp, where he was his drawing talent unscrupulous abused for propaganda purposes. Bergel joined the rich cultural life in the ghetto, lectured, gave free lessons drawings, established many friendships. 16. 10. 1944, he was deported infamous artists transport to Auschwitz, where he died the same day. 

The exhibition presents fifteen facsimiles Bergelových Terezin drawings and several photographs from the collections of the Terezín Memorial, the Holocaust Museum in Washington, Sydney Jewish Museum, Karl König Archive in Berlin and the Israeli Ghetto Fighters Museum. The exhibition is a modest contribution to research on "small history", which seeks the vast anonymous mass murdered during the Shoah raise specific unique human destinies. Exhibition was organized by the American-German researcher Anne-Katrin Weise and created in close cooperation with the Institute of Karl König in Berlin. The curator of the exhibition is art historian David Voda.
