Dalibor Chatrný | So, Now, Here

October 20, 2011 - February 26, 2012
Museum of Modern Art | Nave

This exhibition is a representative selection of the works of one of the leading representatives of Czech post-war art, the painter, graphic artist, teacher and tireless experimenter Dalibor Chatrný. The work of Dalibor Chatrný (b. 1925) draws upon most of the influential artistic techniques and creative approaches of the second half of the 20th  century. It is characterised by conceptual thinking which is applied in his sculptures, experiments with magnetic field, land art events and semantic drawings and paintings. The topics of his works of art, often made in the form of cycles, are ambivalences: illusion and reality, two-dimensional and three-dimensional expression, paradoxes of the perception of space, rule and chance, word and its graphic form, symmetry, mirroring. Chatrný’s work of the last four decades will be represented by works from significant private and public collections.
