From Hollar to Beuys | Collection of Otto Mauer

20 September – 30 December 2007
Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum | Gallery

The first project from the series of projects of the Archdiocesan Museum, representing major European museums, is the exhibition of a collection of the Archiepiscopal Dome and Diocesan Museum in Vinna, founded in 1933, focused on sacred art from the early Middle Ages until the present. The gem of the Viennese Museum is a remarkable collection of Msgr. Otto Mauer (1907 – 1973), Viennese cathedral preacher and collector. The collection contains about three thousand items and accentuates the 20th century art – from P. Picasso, E. Schiele, G. Klimt, O. Kokoschka, P. Klee, H. Matisse and others up to the post-war abstrakt art. The Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum will display a celection of about sixty drawings and graphics from that collection. The exhibition will be accompanied by a Czech-German catalogue.
